Coach Cam learned to row during junior high in his home state of California. He competed nationally during high school and college.

Coach Bill, father of 4 and a longtime coach of a variety of youth sports, began coaching GMRC’s Junior Varsity team in 2022. Coach Bill is a Level 2 certified rowing coach, a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. Originally from Norwood, Ohio, he loves the location of GMRC on the Great Miami River, situated in the heart of Hamilton. Coach Bill’s favorite regatta each year is Indy Sprints.

Coach Kayla is a GMRC alumna. She joined the team in 2016, at the beginning of 8th grade, and quickly fell in love with the sport of rowing. Coach Kayla rowed with GMRC until her high school graduation in 2021. Today, she is a senior at Miami University studying kinesiology. Coach Kayla rejoined GMRC as the Varsity Coach in 2024. Since then, she’s enjoyed helping our athletes grow and improve their skills.

Coach ally

A Hamilton native, Coach Malachi has been rowing since fall 2016 when he joined GMRC and helped pilot the Junior Varsity program before joining the Varsity team in 2019. Coach Malachi’s favorite part of rowing on the Great Miami River is seeing the city come to life with runners, bikers, riverside concerts and the occasional car chase – all viewed from a small boat on the river. Since 2022, he has coached GMRC while also competing and attending college at Miami University. Coach Malachi’s favorite rowing memory is riding a wave into the finish line, securing a quarterfinal win against Egypt in the Junior Mixed Double at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Italy in 2023.

Ally followed in her sister’s footsteps and joined Great Miami Rowing Center in eighth grade. Among her favorite memories as an athlete with Great Miami Crew is competing at Youth Nationals with her sister and friends. Ally is pursuing a degree in the field of nursing at Miami University and commuting to Hamilton to coach. She’s excited to share her passion for the sport of rowing with a talented group of young athletes.

Coach Jackie

Jackie, originally from Hamilton, Ohio, spent most of her life in North Carolina, growing up in an athletic environment. However, she didn’t discover rowing until college. When she received an email from the University of North Carolina’s Division I program seeking walk-ons—no experience required!—she knew she had to give the sport a shot. Jackie quickly fell in love with rowing, dedicating herself to the team for four years and eventually serving as captain in her senior year. One of her favorite rowing memories is traveling to Bucknell in 2022, where, despite challenging water conditions, she stroked an eight to secure victories in two races. Jackie has been coaching at GMRC since September 2024 and is passionate about giving back to the Hamilton community she hails from.
